ALEC JAMES PERRY (PEREPELITZA) 1917 - 2005 Alec Perepelitza was born October 17, 1917 near Arelee, SK, to Nellie and Jacob Perepelitza who had immigrated to Canada from Ukraine and Russia. Alec married Annie Krivoshein of Borden, SK, in 1939. To this happy young couple was born two children, Eileen Laura in 1943 and James Albert in 1946. Annie died in July 1955 in a tragic water accident. On April 2, 1956 Alec married Betty May Jackson of Kelowna, BC. To this marriage two more children, Trudy Lynn, 1958 and Kenneth Wayne, 1960, were born. Alec farmed near Arelee until 1963 when he moved the family to Kelowna so the two younger children could attend a Christian school. Shortly after moving to Kelowna, the family name of Perepelitza was shortened to Perry and Alec added the middle name of James, thus being named after his eldest son. In 1994, in retirement, Alec and Betty moved to Creston, BC. Alec suffered a stroke in 1998. They moved to Winnipeg, MB, in 2000 to live with son Ken and family where, at 87 years of age, he died peacefully on January 21, 2005 at Misericordia Health Centre. Alec was a farmer, a land developer and home builder. He was a do-it-yourself craftsman and mechanic, and a traveler. He was always active in, and a strong supporter of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church of which he was a lifelong member. He also worked, for a time, for Christian Record Braille Foundation. In 1987 Alec and Betty spent a year on the South Pacific Island of Palau as volunteer missionaries with Ken and his wife Julie. Alec was a quiet, kind, loving, sincere, gentle honest man and will be truly missed by his family, relatives and friends. Alec is survived by Betty, his wife of 48 years; and his children, Eileen Petersen (Floyd), Loma Linda, CA, Jim Perry (Diane Jackson), Burlington, WA, Trudy Martin (Tiarr), Orlando, FL, and Ken Perry (Julie Cannon), Winnipeg. Also mourning his passing are five grandchildren, LuCyndi Ramirez (Juan), Sharlane Peterson (Steven), Adam and Mark Perry and Jeremy Perry.
